After 8 years of absence the Acropolis Rally is back, this fall!
Also called the EKO Acropolis Rally of Gods 2021 is back, this September for four days, 9th to 12th. This will be the sixty-fifth running of the Acropolis Rally and this event will be the ninth round of the 2021 WRC, WRC 2 and WRC 3.
Since the early years, Acropolis Rally has gained thousands fans from all around the world over the years and the news of returning of this iconic event, has sparked the fire once again in the hearts of fans and drivers alike.
Drivers are excited to challenge this twisty, rocky, full of dust and heat road, since is considered one of the WRC’s most dangerous but glorious rounds.
Although the champions of 2013(when Acropolis Rally held a WRC event last time) Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila won’t be taking part to defend their title, as Latvala retired from the competition. Neither Volkswagen, who they drove for, will be there as defending manufacturers’ winners, since they retired from the championship at the end of the 2016.
Now prior to the event, the world champions Sebastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia will enter the round with a 38 point lead. Following second is Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin and Thierry Neuville with Martijn Wydaeghe. As for the manufacturers Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT hold 41 point lead over defending manufacturers’ champions Hyundai Shell Mobis WRT,followed by M-Sport Ford WRT
